RESINSURF Presents Pilot Project Advances in Burgos

IMG-20250206-WA0005B

The RESINSURF Project was a key feature at the II FORUM on Challenges and Trends in Surface Treatments, recently held at the Saldañuela Palace, Burgos. The event, co-organized by CIDETEC and the Association of Surface Finishing Industries (AIAS), among others, has established itself as a reference platform for learning, networking, and technology transfer in the surface finishing industry. During the forum, Georgina Faura, representing the RESINSURF Project and CIDETEC, shared the latest advances of the project’s two pilots with the presentation “Sustainable Alternatives for Surface Treatments in the Post-Hexavalent Chromium Era”.

RESINSURF, coordinated by CIDETEC, aims to replace hexavalent chromium-based surface treatments with safer and more eco-friendly alternatives. The RESINSURF project, funded with nearly two million euros by the INTERREG SUDOE Program, primarily aims to develop new technologies for surface treatment without the use of hexavalent chromium, a highly toxic and carcinogenic compound whose use has been restricted by the European Union.

The presentation at the Burgos forum highlights the importance of this project for the industry, especially considering that the limited use of hexavalent chromium is increasingly restricted. RESINSURF not only seeks to develop technological alternatives but also to train professionals and companies in the sector through training sessions, workshops, and seminars. This event in Burgos has served as an important platform to disseminate the progress of the RESINSURF project and its potential impact on the surface treatment industry.
