First TARGET face-to-face meeting in Seville

GRUPO

The TARGET – TerritoriAl stRateGy for watEr scarciTy project, co-financed by the Interreg Sudoe Program through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), held its first face-to-face meeting on June 25 and 26 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Regional Government of Andalusia and at the Experimental Center for New Water Technologies (CENTA), with the Environment and Water Agency (AMAyA) as host (project partner). During this meeting, in addition to the technical and coordination meetings of the project, a workshop was held with the aim of evaluating, through the active participation of the actors involved, various aspects of the legislative and institutional framework, planning, regulation and financing of water management, focusing especially on situations of scarcity.

Freshwater resources in the Southwest European region are facing increasing anthropogenic pressure, generating water scarcity and quality problems, use conflicts and environmental risks. To address these problems, a paradigm shift in water management is essential. TARGET is an Interreg Sudoe cooperation project involving partners from Spain, France and Portugal, which aims to define consensual water management strategies by adapting practices and structures to ensure access to water. The project will give special relevance to the use of non-conventional water resources and water reuse as proactive measures to address the water scarcity crisis. Work has been underway since March of this year on the implementation of the project, which will run until December 2026.
